Pierre's Song
A History of the Beaupre's of Portsmouth
Acclaimed local author, David More, delivered a talk on Sunday, August 20th, 2023 to an audience on Wolfe Island. It focused on the story of the Beaupré family and was written in collaboration with Marie Edwards, a descendant, who also edited the book.
The Beauprés were amongst the first families to populate New France in the 17th Century and played a strong role in Canadian history. In later years, in Kingston, they were renowned shipbuilders and hoteliers, establishing amongst other businesses, what is now the Portsmouth Tavern – Kingston’s most authentic Public House.
